The objective of this work programme is to establish policy for mental health Research and Development as one of NIMHE's core functions by:
- ensuring that NIMHE is compliant with the standards of the Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care
- Developing a database of research being conducted within NIMHE and the regional development centres
- Ensuring that NIMHE's activities are independently evaluated
- Conducting a medium term prioritisation exercise on mental health research needs for the medium term in conjunction with the R&D Directorate at Department of Health
- Extending the NIMHE web presence to include R&D and with suitable links to other research web sites
- Developing dissemination of research results through collaboration with the National Knowledge Service and the National Electronic Library for Health (NeLH)
